Forgotten Dreams: Meditations on Narrative Space
The Design and Integration Process for Audiovisual Space Composition
“Forgotten Dreams: Meditations on Narrative Space” is an immersive audiovisual installation that explores the interplay between sound, image, and space. It draws on ritual content as a rich narrative vehicle, visualizing personal memories and cultural ritual associated with the passing of my family members. This site-specific installation transforms the traditional Korean funeral rite into visual music, exploring the rites as vital social and communal interactions during times of grief. In Korea, these ceremonies facilitate the spiritual transition of the deceased while providing protection and communal support for the living. The installation serves as a personal and collective process of healing, helping the viewers navigate and redefine the meaning of death. Ultimately, it fosters emotional solace and a deeper understanding of loss.
